The app also sends notifications when it detects a presence and you can control the camera angle remotely through the app as well.
The issue I had is that the only way to watch the recorded footage was through the app, and the playback feature is very clunky. There is also no way to export the footage for analysis or uploading. Removing the SD card and watching the footage directly on a PC is not possible because all the footage is encrypted and there is no way around that.
Hopefully they can improve on that with a firmware update, but other than that, the camera worked as expected. Comes with screws and brackets for mounting as well, in case you don't want to put it on a desk or table.
Setup Made Simple:
One of the standout features of the Eufy Solo IndoorCam E220 is its effortless setup process. From unboxing to full functionality, the entire process took me mere minutes. The included instructions were clear, and the step-by-step guide in the Eufy Security app made the setup foolproof. Whether you're a tech enthusiast or a casual user, the E220 ensures a hassle-free installation, eliminating any potential headaches that often come with setting up security devices.
Impressive Performance:
Once the camera was up and running, its performance left a lasting impression. The Eufy Solo IndoorCam E220 boasts a crystal-clear 2K resolution, delivering sharp and detailed footage. The wide-angle lens captures a broad field of view, allowing me to monitor large areas of my home with ease. The camera's night vision capabilities are equally impressive, providing clear visibility in low-light conditions.
Motion detection works seamlessly, and I appreciate the customizable sensitivity settings in the app. The E220 promptly sends real-time alerts to my phone whenever motion is detected, keeping me informed about any activity in my home. The camera's two-way audio feature is a great bonus, allowing me to communicate with family members or pets when I'm away.
Fantastic App Experience:
Eufy's commitment to user-friendly technology is evident in the design of their app. The Eufy Security app is intuitive and well-organized, providing easy access to live feeds, recorded footage, and settings. The app allows for quick adjustments to camera settings, such as motion sensitivity and notification preferences. I appreciate the seamless integration with my smartphone, enabling me to check in on my home from anywhere with just a few taps.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, the Eufy Security Solo IndoorCam E220 combines simplicity, performance, and a fantastic app experience. Its easy setup, high-resolution imaging, and user-friendly app make it a standout choice for anyone seeking a reliable indoor security camera. Whether you're a tech novice or an enthusiast, the Eufy Solo IndoorCam E220 offers peace of mind without sacrificing functionality. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their home security effortlessly.
Easy to install and great quality video streaming and recording
I was amazed by how sensitive the sensors are and can detect pretty much anything based on your settings. Great night vision even if it is totally dark
Advertising needs to be correct.
As for the camera. Setup seems simple enough, but if you want to avoid getting 250x notifications showing your kids while you are after intruders, it’s getting annoying.
Anker Innovations’ smart home sub brand, Eufy, has made strides building up its portfolio. The Eufy Cam 2 and Eufy Security Video Doorbell have proven to be top contenders in their respective areas, but now comes the task of taking security inside of the home with an indoor camera. The Eufy Security Indoor Cam 2K Pan and Tilt is an intriguing option for watching over your home and protecting your privacy.
Here’s my review :-
Design :- Typically Indoor Cameras have a fixed viewing angle and are best situated in corners to maximize their coverage but Eufy’s Indoor Cam 2K Pan and Tilt can rotate 360 degrees horizontally and pivot 96 degrees vertically. With this feature, however, it can be placed anywhere and still cover all corners – and that’s despite the camera’s moderate 125-degree field of view. The Eufy Security Indoor Cam Pan and Tilt offers a few notable features that preserve your privacy in the home.
First and foremost, there’s a microSD slot for local storage, in addition to the cloud storage that’s available. It’s peace of mind for those who want to ensure that the footage recorded by the camera remains private.
Secondly, the camera can be turned off through the app, resulting in the camera tucking itself away — thus exposing its microSD slot. It can effectively work as a privacy shutter, which is nice, because the camera lens is completely obstructed. However, I wish there was a button on the camera itself that could cover the camera and mute the mic. There’s also an LED light on the base of the camera that blinks red to indicate the live stream is being accessed. The Indoor Cam 2K Pan and Tilt comes with motion and sound detection, the ability to distinguish between humans and pets, and it can recognize the sound of a baby crying. It also supports Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit—including HomeKit Secure Video, which allows for the analysis of recorded video clips on a local HomePod, iPad, or Apple TV, as well as encrypted video storage in iCloud. The camera supports up to 128GB of local storage via a microSD card (no card is included).
Ease of Use :- You control the pan-and-tilt camera with the Eufy Security app. It guides you through the process of pairing the camera to your phone and connecting it to your Wi-Fi network. You just need scan the QR code on the device and enter your network login credentials.
The camera appears on the app’s device screen with the name you gave it during the setup and a screenshot of its current view. Pressing the play button here opens the live feed. The layout is clean with live stream at the top, camera controls at the bottom—with the exception of big directional dial smack in the middle. Pressing any of the four cardinal points rotates the camera in that direction. It responds quickly and moves smoothly. You can calibrate the pan-and-tilt and adjust the rotation speed on a 1-5 scale in the settings.
In addition to controlling the pan-and-tilt yourself, you can set the camera to lock on to any moving object it detects by enabling motion tracking. This worked well in my testing, with the camera shadowing a family member or if you have a pet and following them anywhere they went. In a real-world scenario, this would allow you track the movements of an intruder, eliminating the blind spots created by a fixed-angle camera.
Performance :- Having experienced Eufy’s AI detection previously, I knew how accurate it could be, and it didn’t disappoint this time. People were identified as humans. Every notification includes a large screenshot of the triggering person/pet that you can tap to open the captured video clip. If you don’t want to drown in a tide of these alerts, there are several ways to manage them. You can adjust the sensitivity of both motion and sound detection to receive fewer of all alerts, or you can select only the types of sound and movement you want to monitor. You can also opt to receive alerts for only those events you want to know about, change the interval time between two event notifications, and choose the content you want included in notifications and how those are delivered (text only; text first, then thumbnail; or text and thumbnail together).
Value for Money :- The Indoor Cam 2K Pan and Tilt, offers a raft of security features for an unbeatable price. It’s best suited to large spaces where its pan-and-tilt and motion tracking will help you cover a lot ground, and its tack-sharp resolution and intelligent alerts should satisfy first-time camera owners and seasoned home security pros alike.
Cons: I have noticed one downside so far, the camera appears to need an internet connection to function fully. It is unusual that the device does not push out notifications etc on the local wiFi. There must be some sort of outbound communication to Eufy servers which I hope they will overcome/disable in future updates as I would prefer a 100% local wiFi setup for security and for the device to handle any data processing. I will need to test this further in my home network but I have read other people discovered this potential issue.
