So, sure, it's usable. One might try to say versatile, but for the rather small "CLIP" this lanky and awkward thing doesn't really grip strong enough to suit me. It is what it is - and purchased to do a LOT on a single clip, but for me it's a mediocre success. I use it, but I do wish the light were brighter. The reason for the light is to make up for a lack of light (or lack of usable light, due to position), and it barely gets that done. So, not great, but not bad... just so - so.

The lase model of this I had, didn't protect the wire coming off the light. That is where my other one broke down. Nothing wrong with the light or the controls, just a broken wire.... right down where you cannot reach it. So, I expect this one to far outlast the other one i bought. Another thing, The other one had a swivel feature, This one does not... that is actually a plus. Because after a while you not only stress your wire, you have to keep screwing the thing tight again. Now, it has a good strong clamp, but because I move the light and camera a lot, it tends to work it's way out to the edge. So a little extra precaution would be helpful in a stable position you do not tend to remove and replace. Mine is attached to an angle iron, so I just add a bit of twine around the handle and over the iron. Problem solved. All in all, I think this design is much better for long term and constant use. That is my 2 cents and I hope it helps in choosing the model right for you.
